E3 2011

E3 2011 (Game Conference) is about to start but we are still here in Cymru. (sad face). I'm looking forward to watch Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo conference via online. Thankfully, several of the gaming websites offers free live streaming of all the conference slots. Thank you Internet! (happy face)

With Microsoft that MAYBE will be announcing their new hardware Xbox 720, and Nintendo that is CERTAINLY announcing the successor for its Wii (Wii 2? Project Cafe? Stream), E3 conference 2011 is not to be missed by any gamer through out the world.

I keep wondering what will Sony bring to the table at E3. I doubt it will be a PS4, but I don't think they will just sit and watch other console makers splashing away their new gadgets towards Sony. Maybe they only have some great game titles... but I don't think that would be enough.

By tomorrow evening, everything will be unveiled.

--update June 6th--

Project Cafe/Wii2/Stream has got their official name. It will be called 'Nintendo'. Just imagine how confused parents will be when their children want to buy the console...

I forgot that Sony will be unveiling their new PSP successor in this E3. The hand held console is famously known as NGP (Next Generation Portable). How could I forgot about that?? Shows how much I 'take notice' about handheld game consoles ;).

--update June 7th--

Finished watching all the live shows (Microsoft, EA, Ubisoft & Sony) without any interruptions. They were all great. I didn't take any note during watching, here are some highlights that I can remember.

They start of with many interesting games such as 'Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3', 'Gears of War 3', and several more. Then it continues with all the Kinect lineup. Even though for some, the Kinect is not that convincing, but some of the games really grasp the technology.

One of them is the 'Mass Effect 3' that lets you choose dialogue using voice command. Players can also command their AI teammates to attack. I can't wait to say "Le'ara, Singularity!". Among others was 'Tom Clancy's: Ghost Recon: Future Soldier' that lets player customise their weapon with Kinect gestures and voice command! Both of the games were so cool!

There are also several other Kinect games such as 'Star Wars', 'Fable the Journey' and 'Kinect Sports Season 2'. Even though 'Star Wars' & 'Fable the Journey' seems interesting to play games, I do think 'Kinect Sport's is very similar like 'Wii Sports'.

Ooh there also Halo 4 trailer at the end of the presentation! It will be available before holiday season 2012.

I can't remember much about EA. They are showing off their sports game such as FIFA 12, NFL 12 and what not. EA announces that they are trying to integrate the sports game more with Kinect in the future. They also show 'Battlefield 3', and several other games that about to come out in the future.

All I can remember about Ubisoft is the 'Assassins Creed: Revelations' trailer. Showing off all the new Ezio abilities. The action is more intense, and the platforming is quite interesting too.

Sony shows off all their games, such as 'Uncharted 3' and what not. However the announcement of Sony Playstation Vita (previously known as Playstation NGP) is the main of their show. It shows off some of the great things you can do with the console. 'Modnation Racers Vita', 'Ruin' and 'Uncharted' is among the games that will be available to the console.

The console can share, cloud save progress with Playstation 3 consoles. Now players can play the games while on the go, and continue to play the game on the TV via PS3! The Playstation Vita will be sold at following prices:

Wifi only: $249, €249, ¥24,980
Wifi & 3G: $299, €299, ¥29,980

E3 ends today with that bombshell... but honestly, I don't think I will buy any of those games/consoles. Still lots of PS3 games to play and collect! Now I just can't wait to see what Nintendo has up its sleeves. Nintendo Nintendo (Project Cafe? Stream? Beem?) for sure? or is it?

--update June 7th (evening)--

After waiting for almost half a day. Now Nintendo coming to the centre stage! Wii 2? Wii HD? Stream? Beam? What do you think?

The successor for Wii is called Wii U. Wii U will come with a new controller that has touch screen display on it. Players don't need to have a TV after this because they can play games on the controller only. Wii U will be coming out in 2012, but Nintendo didn't give any information about Wii U console itself. Maybe it is just too early for Nintendo to comment anything about it. (sad face).

Anyway.. we now know where are Nintendo going to... they are trying to cover every corner of gamers... from the hardcore to family and party fun. Nintendo finally realises that they do need those third party developers. They are the ones that will bring in the money.

Finally, that is all for E3 2011. My conclusion is... as I won't buy Kinect and am not interested in both PS Vita and Wii U, there is nothing for me in this E3 2011. (sad face).
