Check Your Umbrella Stands

I just came across an interesting news on Yahoo! News, regarding an umbrella that prices around £500,000 . (link).

The couple that owned the vase was very lucky. If I have a chance like that, the first thing I'd do is to go to an antiques auction and sell the umbrella stand.

With half a million Pounds I do think that I can retire early. Put the whole lot of money inside an Islamic Bank and sit back waiting for each month to end, and still got £1,000 each month!

So, for those who feels like the economy downturn has really take effects on them, just go inside your closet and store room, find something old, and just try your luck for an evaluation.

The essay structure

Cuba jer lar pergi. Sekadar kelas untuk kelas. Bukan kelas untuk kredit. Sebaik dapat parking kereta. Jalan punya jalan. Sampai terlalu awal. Lepak kedai kopi. Beli kopi segelas. Pahit bukan main. Susu takde pulak tu. Minum punya minum. (Detailnya cerita sebab klimaks ceritanya pendek jer).

Kelas di bangunan ini

Pergi masuk kelas. Hanya ada dua, tiga kerat. Makin lama makin ramai. Pandang kiri orang india, belakang orang arab. Depan kami dua orang putihs. Depan sikit lagi orang cina, suka senyum. Sebelah kanan, orang melayu yang pemalu (cik abe lar). Hehe. Pandang hujung kelas, orang mesia juga. Pelbagai kaum. Pelbagai bahasa lar dengar di sekeliling kami.

Cikgu pun start lar mengajar. Cikgu pass lar kertas. Kelas bising, cikgu marah-marah suruh berikan perhatian. Orang bercakap-cakap pulak, cikgu marah suruh berikan perhatian. Sekali lagi, orang buat bising, cikgu ketuk- ketuk meja marah.

Kemudian, Cikgu suruh baca - apa itu karangan? Cikgu suruh bincang. Kami bising lagi, bincang pasal apa itu laser, kat mana tinggal, rumah dia jauh, orang tu ambik law, dia kenal malaysia dan pelbagai topik.

Cikgu balik dari bilik fotosalin, mesin fotosalin rosak kata cikgu. Cikgu pun suruh balik sebab dia tak boleh fotosalin kertas-kertas tugasan. Kami pun tercengang. Tapi terus berborak. :D

Resource Exhaustion

Last week has been a long week. I came in to the office in the morning, simulate, analyse, simulate, analyse, simulate and analyse as much as I can the whole day.

If the day is not enough, I'll let the computer turned on doing all the work. My final successful simulation took around 14 hours. Then it became all downhill afterwards.

Guess what, the simulators has gone out of its resources! Now I'm back again at square one. I ought to find another simulator that could simulate my research.

Anyway, enough of this computer whizzy stuff, let's talk about life.

Hmm... what have we done throughout the week? Watched some movies we bought, watch some more movies on Freeview, play some game to release tension, and cooked "Ayam Kurma"(of course with some tip from Chef Fara). Well that's about it the whole week.

This weekend however, we're planning to go West! To the car boots, and then straight to the beach. We hope to see some seals or sea lions (not sure). Onngg! Onngg! (imitating sea lions)

Time flies

Ia tercatat, "We have been in Cymru for 3 montsh"!! Opp ooo. Already 3 months?? My god, sudah 3 purnama! Cepatnya masa berlalu. Pejam celik pejam celik, dah 3 bulan. Dari awal kami sampai-proses meraba2 carik tempat tinggal, mencari kereta, turun naik bus pergi sekolah, naik turun registry uni (atas bukit) setel itu ini, terketor2 sejuk - alhamdulillah, kini kami selesa dan tenang. Rumah kami diami kecil saja tapi kami gembira ngat ngat. Kereta lama, tapi kuat insyaAllah. Hehe. Apa nak buat, tiada lapisan lemak, lapisan kain pun jadi lar. Yer2, saya akan gemukkan diri saya. Tapi..susahhh. :(

Biar jadi Blog Resepi.

Resepi Ayam Masak Madu Si Blogger AzrulFara

Hasil masakan tengahari kami

Bahan-bahannya adalah:
- beberapa ketul ayam (saya buat untuk kami berdua, 2 kali makan)
- madu
- kicap
- sos oyster
- bawang putih dipotong halus2 kecil
- bawang merah, bawang putih yang diblend
- cili boh
- sos tomato
- garam
- mix vege
- bawang besar dimayang

Cara-caranya adalah:

1. Terlebih dahulu puan-puan, kita perapkan ayam bersama madunya.
- ayam yang dibersihkan terdahulu (tentunya!)
- beberapa sudu madu (saya letak lam 3,4 sudu)
- satu sudu kicap
- bawang putih yang dipotong halus

4. Okay, tiba masanya untuk buat kuahnya pula.
5. Guna minyak ayam tadi pun boleh, sedikit saja minyak. Tumis bawang putih dan merah yang diblend.
6. Dah agak bawang itu wangi, letakkan cili boh (Warning!! sedikit saja cili boh). Kacau2 sehingga naik minyak. Letakkan air ikut citarasa memasing. Sedikit sahaja sudah mencukupi.
7. Agak2 air tercampur sebati, tuangkan sedikit sos oyster, kicap lagi, sos tomato, madu lagi dan garam. Kacau2 sehingga rasa yang memuaskan.
8. Campurkan juga bersama mix vege.
9. Kemudian letakkan ayam2 itu. Gaulkan sebati dan biarkan seketika. Taburkan bawang
dimayang,
10. Jeng2 dah siap pun.

*Pss..dia tengah main game..saya nak main jugakkkk!! Gotta go!!!

Sang isteri berceloteh

Kesian dia, teringin tahu perkembangan saya. Hihi. Orait dear, here is something for you.
Rakan kongsi blog memang rajin ceritakan pasal kegemaran dia. Hari minggu pula breakfast-carboot sale (melihat lihat saja)-round High Street kalau rajin-lunch-kemas rumah-tengok movie/main game-main game/tengok movie-dinner-tengok movie/main game-tidur. Haha, banyak tengok tv jer bila tibanya hari minggu.

Itular apa yang dibuat, mana idak rasa masa cepat berlalunya. Si dia lar tu yang pengaruhi saya. Tapi best juga, pukul2 si dia, lumba kereta. Biasanya dia lar menang. Nyampah!!

Oh ya, saya ada hobi baru. Hobi mengumpul barang.

Hek. Tadok kije sungguh lar. :D

-jeng jeng, buntu idea. ;) Sekian!

iMac, Full Speed Ahead

I just got a newly written simulation codes yesterday. I've been running simulations from late evening yesterday, and still running some more new as I am writing this down.

Well, I don't know whether it is fast or not, however, I do think that some of the more complicated calculations would take around an hour or so.

Matrix
(10 years ago, this picture is COOL)

I hope by today I could come out with some findings based on the calculations, and finish writing my report by tomorrow afternoon. (I don't wanna waste any more time). I must put some sticky note on the screen saying "SUBMIT... SUBMIT... SUBMIT!!!"

Well, having this iMac do divide my work and life clearly. From now on, I could concentrate on my work while in the University, and concentrate resting while I'm at home. Alhamdulillah. I hope this kind of work ethic could go on.

Last Wiikend

Without even realising, we have 5 Wii games in our house. Among 5 of them, the most favourite would be Wii Sports... however, we didn't play it so much now because it causes muscle strains.

So, we turned to either "fighting cross platformer" or "first person shooter" game. "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" and "The House of The Dead: Overkill" respectively. Games that allow us to sit back on the couch, and cause no more than a muscle strain in the fingers.

First impression of Super Smash Bros Brawl (SSBB hereafter), is that it is just a mere fighting game. No more than Super Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, or Guilty Gear. The only difference is that the characters are cute and cute.

Just imagine, having Mario as the main character. You could even fight as Kirby, the small ball shaped pinky character, it is as cute as it gets.

However, I do think that the fighting game is not the reason the SSBB got a 9.5 marks in Gamespot. I think the marks are based on the story mode, that can be played by 1 or 2 players.

SSBB amazingly combines a fighting game with action adventure, platformer, and a little bit of puzzle. We've been playing it for a while, and really have enjoyed it.

Well, regarding the other game, "The House of the Dead: Overkill" (THDO hereafter), its just a normal shooting game. We do enjoy playing it, however one of the characters curses a lot. The character can insert 4 F-words in a short 5 sentence word.

I don't think that it is a good idea to play THDO with the sounds on. You'd better turn the sounds off, after all, the shooting sounds will come out from Nintendo Wii Remote.

Watching Slow Burn

Currently watching "Slow Burn". Starring... all B-class actors.

Slow Burn

So, we just don't put our hopes high. Don't think that this movie gonna worth the time wasted. We're only one third into the movie, and my fingers are itchy to push on the remote dial. (there's nothing interesting in other channels though)

Carbonated Drinks Powered Handphones!

Ever had a situation where your handphone run out of battery, went to the store to find a charger and couldn't find the right charger?

Well, I think those problem will go away someday. People have been thinking about making a drop off handphone charger (electromagnetic induction), but then again, the places must be very very limited.

Bulky mobile phone chargers could soon be a thing of the past with handsets running on soft drinks instead.

Daizi Zheng designed the 'greenphone', which is powered by Coca-Cola, as part of her final university project.

The Central Saint Martins graduate came up with the concept for Finnish mobile phone manufacturer Nokia.

Ms Zheng said the prototype could run up to four times longer than a traditional lithium ion battery and has the potential to be fully biodegradable.

The greenphone's bio battery generates electricity using enzymes to catalyse sugar in the drink.

As the battery dies out, only water and oxygen are left behind.

Unfortunately, Nokia will not be developing the greenphone prototype further in the near future.

Ms Zheng told Sky News: "At the time they wanted something to bring out within the next two years and thought my design was too futuristic."

But she added that bio batteries are being developed by large electronics companies and may be on the market in the next five years.

Just wonder what these carbonated drinks can do to your body.

I'm a Mac, and I'm a PC

I just got my hands on an iMac. It is my first time using a Mac my whole life. My previous experience on a Mac were, 1, browsing Internet using my friend's PowerMac, 2, copying files out of my colleague MacBook, 3, in stores selling Macs. That's it... nothing more... nada.

So, my first impression of the iMac is that it has a small keyboard! The key is a normal sized key, however, they just remove all the keyboard borders and other unimportant keys (keys that usually there to be able to use a Windows).

The new mighty mouse has no button at all... and the ease of use of the mouse is very shocking. I thought that I would never get used to it... but it turns out just to be so easy.

All and all... I have been waiting for a long time for a Mac. Now that I got it, I'm going to use it and will not let it to be a waste. More work to do... huhu...

Jadual Gaji Kakitangan Awam 2010 (Public Servants' Pay Timetable)

Here I paste a picture from ibnrajab to make it easier for anybody interested in the topic.

Compared to last year, it seems that there are not much oddity in the timetable except for February and November. With the former, salary would be paid on the 8th, and latter on the 10th. It's a little bit of a relief for public servants.

Towards a better service towards Malaysians.

My Wiishlist

I realized that several of my blog entry was always about Nintendo Wii. However, that didn't stop me to make another entry regarding the topic (and maybe in future).

There are several Wii game titles that currently in my Wiishlist. It's not to make others to buy it for me.. I just wanna wait for the price to go down.

They are as follows (in no particular order):

Well, I don't plan to buy all of it, I'll only need to buy one of each genre.

The only thing I could wish now would be thet there will be more new games released for Wii, thus making all of the titles above a lot more cheaper. I'll just wait and see...

Jakun

I'm freezing in this frozen office room. The temperature is getting lower and colder each day. But, alhamdulillah, the weather at our place is not as extreme as other parts of UK. Some places at north east went through -18 degrees C!! Wah, that's bad. Hope my friends who are experiencing this too cold weather, can cope with it finely. The last bad snow in England - happened in 1981!

When wearing gloves, it makes hard for me to type with this fluffy thingy.

Last Tuesday, as I was preparing our breakfast, I heard something weird sound on our rooftop window (ice made the sound, not the snow). As I looked up, I saw some soft white things fallings down. Oh, it was snowing during the day. Before this, in B*angor, the snow usually falls during late nights so it's a no no for us to play in the cold and darkness. Might as well we just stay under our warm duvet.

So, last tuesday siang tu, apa lagi kengkawan, I grabbed my jacket, he took the camera and we rushed out. Saya jer jakun, dia dah biasa. Hik! Took a few snaps and I stayed in the snow for a while, what a blessed for having this opportunity in my life to feel, to see another miracle thing created by Allah. Putih, lembut, gorjes (gorgeous). Tapi, sahabat saya berkata, hujan cantik juga cuma kita tak tatap dia cam kita jakun dengan snow. Hehe, yeah, I agree with that.

Putih, lembut, gorjes

And, guess what, we did not go to school on that day because of the heavy snow (such a lame reason or what?). The weather forecast showed it would be heavy snow for a day so we wanted to be on the safe side, for not getting on the icy road. Last night the news announced that, this extreme weather will last for another 5 days. Ya Allah, Kau lindungi lah hamba-hamba Mu ini. -Amin-

Wanted

Wanted

We just able to find a time to watch this movie. Unfortunately, I watched the Mythbuster for this movie before, so the excitement of seeing a bending bullet is not there. From what I know, the movie stars Angelina Jolie, and a guy I never know his real name. (turned up to be James McAvoy)

It was quite gruesome, with lots of blood and killing. (what do you expect from an assassin movie?). The storyline is good, and there are some good parts where they inserted some comedy.

I would say that "Wanted" is a good movie, and I felt a bit loss of not watching it earlier...

Mobile phone use 'could treat Alzheimer's'

Here's an interesting news to read. (click here).

Previously we usually heard about extensive use of mobile phone could cause headaches. Or maybe it's just another thing that Bluetooth is trying to exaggerate in order to sell their technology in wireless earphones and speakers.

Here are some excerpt of the research regarding mobile phone as Alzheimer's cure.

New research has emerged which could turn ideas about the health effects of mobile phone use on their head.

A string of health scares has linked radiation from phone handsets to increased risk of Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and multiple sclerosis.

But a new study on mice suggests using a phone may actually protect against Alzheimer's or even reverse the progress of the disease.

Scientists found that mice with Alzheimer's were effectively cured after being exposed to the kind of electromagnetic waves produced by phone handsets.

Deposits of a harmful protein linked to the disease were erased from the animals' brains, and their thinking ability and memory returned to normal levels.

The study involved 96 mice, most of which were genetically engineered to develop the typical symptoms of Alzheimer's disease.

The tests suggest that it would take years for constant use of mobile phones to have a similar effect on humans.

Well, the research did not disclose the type of signal, phone or length of the usage that may cure Alzheimer's. So don't bother to put any Alzheimer's patients on cell phone just yet.

Madworld vs. House of Dead: Overkill

Well, I don't quite sure which one of these would be a better game. The only thing I know is that both will contribute some money to SEGA, and Wii, and both of them use the same color palette of black, white and red....

Guess Which One Won? (Nintendo Wii vs. PS3 vs. Xbox360)

Refer to my blog entry last month, entitled Nintendo Wii, Playstation 3 and Xbox 360, Side-by-Side. (click here). Since that day we've been going in and out of game stores, supermarket, and even online to check the prices of all three consoles.

So, I lined out disadvantages of each console.

  • Playstation 3 - Pricey, and limited choice of games.
  • Xbox 360 - I have had one. The best console for shooting game.
  • Nintendo Wii - Has a KIDS image all over it, limited choice of games, and no Hi-Def.

The first one out of the frame was Playstation 3. Yes... the price played a big role in deciding this, and another big role is the SIXAXIS controller (which looks like a PS2 controller). Owh... come on!!

With the black giant went out of the frame... It's the fight of Xbox360 and Wii. Since I've owned an Xbox360 before, I decided to give the child's play a go. So Nintendo Wii, here we come! After several days of searching, we finally find a bargain at a game store. Without hesitation, I pulled my wallet and purchase one.

I bought the console which come bundled together with Wii Sports. I also bought a controller which then come bundled with Wii Play. We rushed home, and I connected the console to the TV. One thing leads to another... and we had played all the games and make us really sweat!

I never thought that a game console could ever make someone sweat! Nintendo Wii really changes my thought of TV games. It really revolutionized the gaming market, and I do believe that Wii should be the one to be called Next Generation Game Console.

Anyway, for those gamers who are out there sitting on the gaming couch to play games and eat chips. I recommend you to get a Wii.

House warming and getting older

Just a brief entry.

A few days before christmas holiday, we held a simple house warming party for 2 families, who helped us a lot here in Cymru. First time ever we held a party in our marriage life and alhamdulillah, it turned out to be a great one. A lunch party- we did prepare meat curry with nan bread, white rice served with roasted chicken, our dessert - the bread pudding with fruity custard, nuggets for children..

Our Lunch Party

And before the holiday as well, I just turned to 2* years old. A simple celebration with just the two of us.
Ei, ngader

Okay, I guess that's all peeps. Pictures will do the rest of story telling. :D

Boxing Day at Birm

It's been quite some time we did not update this blog. We have been sooo into holiday mood. Spent chrismas and boxing day at Birmingham, and a few days after at darling's auntie's. We just stayed at our home sweet home during the New Year.

Boxing day is a holiday in some parts of the world. It is one day after Christmas and in earlier days, Boxing day was celebrated to give money and gifts to people in needy. I'm not sure myself, I just read bout it in newspaper.
But nowadays, Boxing day is known as a GREAT year end sale. Most of items will be on 50% discount sale. Argh..I was soo crazy to see all the cheap prices. We went to Birm, it is bout 2 and a half hour of driving from Bangor. We stayed at an affordable hotel in the city, just a walk distance to Bull R*ing, the famous shopping centre in Birm. As soon as we arrived at the city, we straightaway had a walk around. What we can see there were many of unique statues and historical buildings. Nice! But I did not care much, I just couldnt wait for the shopping spree. Hehe. We went to bed early that night to gain enough energy for the next day.

The unique building behind is Selfridge Department Store

Victoria Square

We checked out at 6.30 in the morning after a simple but energetic breakfast, and managed to be in Bull Ring by 6.45!! But for our surprise, there was already a longgggggggg queue outside the Next outlet. Hurm2..unsangkarable. Sebenarnya, kami target the Next for our few of shopping list, tetapi semangat kami tak semangat mana, maka kami tak sanggup beratur panjang. Kami cuma menyerbu Selfrid*ges, Deben*hams and other shops. Tetapi kekadang kami masih waras. :D

At bout 11 o'clock, kami nampak line depan Ne*xt getting shorter. Becoz we didnt want to be left out for a boxing day spirit, kami pun beratur juga. Hurm, no wonder they could stand the long queue since 5 in the morning, becoz every single thing in the outlet is on 50% discount sale. By the time we got in (pak guard bagi certain amount of customers masuk at one time), barang dah bersepah2, pecah2, kasut berselerak..nak cari size yang sama pun susah, dan kebanyakan size dah abis. Hurm, itular sale habis-habisan. Tapi kami tak kesah, kami cuma ingin tahu. :D

By 12 in the afternoon, kami sudah nyah dari Bull Ri*ng dan pergi mencari Nand*os halal di Star City. Alhamdulillah, we managed to find it.. makan puas-puas. After our stomach was full, got our legs streched, had our jamak pray, we started our journey to Aylesbury. 2 and half hour journey to our auntie's. Spent a wonderful time with her for a few days.
Oh ya, we stopped at Bicester Village on our way to her house. Tak sangka that place was soo near to Aylesbury. Bicester Village is a famous place as well for Boxing day. There, we can find many famous branded outlets, Burberry, Dunhill, Gucci, Guess..sebut je apa, semua ada. Ops, kami TERbeli juga di Bicester Village. He bought me another birthday prezzie. Oh ya, when we were at Aylesbury, I still couldnt stop to shop. I couldnt resist myself on buying more cheap and discounted clothing items. I bought some more knitted wears. Hik. Darling?? Dia cuma senyum simpul-simpul.

Sebelum hari tahun baru, kami pulang. Jalan sesak yang teramat. It was raining and snowing on our way back. Tapi, alhamdulillah, jalan tak licin. Boot kami PENUH dengan barang shopping. Our luggage bags terpaksa letak di passenger seat. Tak mau shopping lagi selepas ini, harapnya. Tahan diri!!

That's it bout our Boxing day and holiday. Nothing much.
