Without even realising, we have 5 Wii games in our house. Among 5 of them, the most favourite would be Wii Sports... however, we didn't play it so much now because it causes muscle strains.
So, we turned to either "fighting cross platformer" or "first person shooter" game. "Super Smash Bros. Brawl" and "The House of The Dead: Overkill" respectively. Games that allow us to sit back on the couch, and cause no more than a muscle strain in the fingers.
First impression of Super Smash Bros Brawl (SSBB hereafter), is that it is just a mere fighting game. No more than Super Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, or Guilty Gear. The only difference is that the characters are cute and cute.
Just imagine, having Mario as the main character. You could even fight as Kirby, the small ball shaped pinky character, it is as cute as it gets.
However, I do think that the fighting game is not the reason the SSBB got a 9.5 marks in Gamespot. I think the marks are based on the story mode, that can be played by 1 or 2 players.
SSBB amazingly combines a fighting game with action adventure, platformer, and a little bit of puzzle. We've been playing it for a while, and really have enjoyed it.
Well, regarding the other game, "The House of the Dead: Overkill" (THDO hereafter), its just a normal shooting game. We do enjoy playing it, however one of the characters curses a lot. The character can insert 4 F-words in a short 5 sentence word.
I don't think that it is a good idea to play THDO with the sounds on. You'd better turn the sounds off, after all, the shooting sounds will come out from Nintendo Wii Remote.
